Introduction :
Mykdrasil is a textile sculpture making the invisible visible: the underground network of mycelium. Inspired by the world tree Yggdrasil, this work combines felted sheep’s wool, clay, and silk into a hybrid organism. It symbolizes cooperation over competition.
Concept & Material:
This work visualises a symbiotic cycle on multiple levels: an interplay between humans and nature, life and death, fear of change and hope for a better future. Like a vast fungal mycelium, everything is interwoven—always in flux, decomposing the old to bring forth the new.
The work plays with the tactility of growth and decay. Wool and clay are primal materials, brought here into a new form of coexistence. The structure appears organic, almost breathing. It is artistic research on symbiosis and the question of how we can learn from fungal networks for our own society.
The blend of organic and crafted materials renders transformation tangible and visible.
